I can’t believe it happened again.I mean canBut in reality, I can’t.
I’m not entirely sure what to say here. Briden Point was knocked out of the game due to an injury. Reefs was at home. They tied the game. Nikita Kucherov did not appear to be engaged unless Tampa was in power play.Reefs Have got To push this game forward and find a way to win. They have to do.
You can claim that Reefs played well-generally speaking, they did this series! – And you can say they are a break – it happens! – But at some point, they need to win. This is the sixth year, including most of this core.
It’s immeasurable. Sure, Tampa is a great team, but it’s not as good as a weak team. This cannot be the “just right” situation for gold rock that really needs to be adjusted to win the series. The time to celebrate a moral victory is much past.
I’m disappointed on so many levels.
10 of your games:
1.1. I thought Sheldon Keef had a great strategy to get started with this game. John Cooper had to declare a starting lineup and chose to load the top matchup line, led by Briden Point and Victor Hedman, immediately.
If you are a home team, you will not hide from it to start the game.Keef Auston Matthews With the line Jake Magin Pairing. Reefs won the shift and moved the crowd ( Mitch Manner It led to sales and some zone time). By the third shift in the game, Cooper had a third line led by Nick Paul, and Keef double-shifted Matthews’ line to get his favorite matchup instead of the point line. A small “in-game game” chess to play there.
Reefs got off to a good start. John Tabares I had a good chance off Alex kerr foot Pass, Manner had a good chance David Kamp Had a good opportunity at slot off Pierre Engbal path. I’m sure there was some nerve — it’s normal, these are humans — but with this, Reefs didn’t come out tentatively.
Unfortunately, that was not the case with Andrey Vasilevsky.
2.2. If there’s one area you want to get a little better in the first period, it’s power play. They had some zone time, but didn’t make or take enough shots. They also had William Nilander Mainly on the half wall.
The first power play was at least decent and generated a bit, but after Tampa Bay scored, Reefs produced a good reaction, drew a power play, and essentially did nothing with it. Power play is not how much you score. They are about when you score and whether you can generate momentum.
It was the end of the period, Tampa just scored, and Reefs had a chance to tie it up to take a break. They didn’t even set it up properly. After the buzzer sounded, their only chance of attention came.
3.3. As just mentioned, Tampa Bay was the first to hit with this from Nick Paul’s goal. Reefs started playing and was aiming for it. There were many opportunities, but it was Tampa Bay that counterattacked in the rush led by Nick Paul. Los Colton dropped it on Los Colton. In essence, he shot it as hard as he could.
Trust him in it. Reefs passed some shots in the first period, and Tampa was doing what the team had to do in the playoffs: hitting the net with a puck and driving hard for a rebound.
I don’t want to say it was a terrible play Morgan LieriBut he might have done better with it. Paul could easily poke it with one hand and score. Lily didn’t pack the stick, and he didn’t really get in the way of Paul. You have to do either. He didn’t do either, and Tampa suddenly started a game in which Reefs was playing pretty well.
4.4. At first I thought that Reefs came out well, but from the middle stage I seemed to be quite nervous. Jack Campbell I made a big savings early on in Corey Perry. When Reefs got the chance, they mainly started thinking too much — especially TJ Brody He came in, hesitated, evaded Tampa’s defender, but tried where he still didn’t shoot.
Campbell also saved Nick Paul alone in front of him. He kept the game within reach all night long.Of course, controversy is an unallowed goal John Tabares score. I know many fans don’t want to hear it-and believe what I understand-but I thought it was obviously an interference.
That’s the only reason he was able to interrupt Justin Hall I ran a pick. The whistle rang before he scored, but the excitement of the fans prevented him from hearing it clearly. It wasn’t like behind the scenes. It literally created a goal.
I’m not going to sit here and say, “Well, they didn’t call this or that, or what about this precedent?” What I’m saying is that it was the penalty that led to the (discontinued) goal alone.
5.5. Reefs mainly played this game too cute. The 14 shots in the two periods are almost not enough.
In the second phase, they scored quite a few goals. Mitch Manner Slice the neutral zone and Auston MatthewsImmediately opened it wide Morgan LieriAnd he filled the high short side.
Lily had some big playoff goals over the years. This includes one of the earliest in this series of games 5 for tying games. He also scored a go-ahead goal against the Canadiens when the series was drawn 1-1 and scored against Boston when Reefs played home and tried to close the series in 2019. It was started.
In fact, Riely scored in five of Reefs’ six playoff runs. In his career, he has scored 25 points in 39 playoff games. Given how his previous steps fluctuate between effective and ineffective each year, I can’t ask him any more, anyway.
6.6. As soon as they scored and tied the game, the goal went to Reefs’ feet. David Kamp I had a good scoring chance before William Nilander It broke through for withdrawal.upon Auston MatthewsOn the first shift after they tied it, he came out and ripped the shot that Vasilevsky made a good save.
And Nick Paul scored again. look, TJ Brody I’ve been fine since he arrived in Toronto. But he didn’t defend this well. He couldn’t fit the stick enough on the puck and had almost zero body contact with the pole at 1v1. You need to do either or both. It can’t be either.
Instead, Paul played great on his feet, broke through, and scored a great (winning) goal that Campbell could hardly blame.
7. If Reefs was a little nervous to go down the goal and start the second period, they would TRUE I’m nervous from the 3rd term. Not much attention right now, this is perfectly fair, Jack Campbell Significant savings made early in 3v1 Justin Hall In fact, I played pretty well defensively.
Shortly thereafter, Perry hurriedly stopped by to rip a good slap shot that Campbell saved. As we said, Campbell didn’t just give them a chance tonight. If you enter this game and say that Campbell has given up only two, sign with a dotted line without blinking. That’s more than enough to win.
8.8. Reefs went 0/3 in tonight’s power play as much as the people involved were the hottest topic in the series. This included a referee who imposed a fairly weak penalty on Ondrapat in Phase 3.
One down at home, it was Reefs’ third power play that night. Auston Matthews When William Nilander I tried several shots, but the chance of 10 bells was zero. They were static for most of the time and disappeared completely in the second half of power play.
They definitely needed more power play than they got in this series. In the series, they went on 4/28 in power play and they gave up a short hand goal. They did create opportunities, but eventually took over what they were doing in April until the playoffs.
I claim power play looked the best Mark Giordano Earning points, they scored one of the few goals with him.
9.9. The last 10 minutes were very similar to the problems I’ve seen over the years. Tampa simply blocked the shot and promised to make Reefs work for it. They didn’t intend to score another tic-tac-toe goal to tie it.
Reefs were difficult to get inside and their defenses had a hard time getting through the puck. I saw multiple forwards circling the net with a puck instead of dropping their shoulders or trying to drive inside. Vasilevsky was really good in the third period, but I can’t say he made a lot of five-star saves.
Four of Reefs’ top nine forwards had zero shots on the net with this one. By comparison, only Tampa’s top nine Palats did not score a goal.
10.10. Whatever it is worth John Tabares To help Reefs launch an attack, he finally won two major confrontations. Auston Matthews Tear the pack through it Jason Spezer I got some, but not enough (it was an insanely difficult play).
I will be annoyed forever Morgan Lieri Instead of throwing it at the wall with Matthews (literally he was always open) with his wrist wide open, he settled on a wrist shot attempt (blocked).
For all the stories of last year Mitch Manner He didn’t want to get out of the final playoffs of the half-wall, so he did this series, and finally, without any hesitation. It may not be very valuable to many for now, but I thought it was worth noting.
But in the end, I had a hard time getting through the pack and creating it.
Thanks to everyone who followed our coverage all year round. I really thought Reefs would break through, and I lied if I said that the way Florida saw in Round One wouldn’t wander me at times that might be: increase.
I am deeply grateful for this loss, but I am deeply grateful for all of your support and passion throughout the year. Whether we agree or argue until the face turns blue, I love interaction. Really, I do.
I want to run together. I thought it was this year (and so was last year). Once again, we are forced to stare at the loss of Round One in our eyes and wonder, “What’s next?”
